Local dermatology care

Expert skin care, close to home in Cody

Yellowstone Dermatology Associates brings full-service medical and surgical dermatology to Cody, Wyoming. Our Cody clinic on Lindsay Lane is led by Eric Maranda, MD, FAAD, a board-certified dermatologist and Mohs surgeon who founded the practice and personally sees patients here.

Cody sits at about 5,000 feet, at the doorstep of Yellowstone's East Entrance, and many of our patients spend their days ranching, guiding, hunting, fishing or skiing. That much time outdoors at elevation adds up, which is why skin cancer screening and treatment is a large part of what we do in Park County. We also treat everyday skin conditions like acne, eczema, psoriasis, rashes, hair loss and nail problems for patients of all ages.

Prevention

Why skin checks matter in the Big Horn Basin

The World Health Organization notes that UV levels rise by roughly 10% for every 1,000 meters of altitude. In Cody, that combines with long summer days, bright snow in winter and a lot of outdoor work. Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States, and most cases are highly treatable when they are caught early.

We recommend a yearly full-body skin exam for most adults, and more often if you have a history of skin cancer, many moles, fair skin, or a family history of melanoma. Between visits, check your skin monthly using the ABCDEs of melanoma: Asymmetry, irregular Borders, uneven Color, Diameter larger than a pencil eraser, and any Evolving spot. If something is new, changing, bleeding or not healing, call our Cody office.

Your visit

What to expect at your Cody appointment

  1. Easy scheduling. Call (406) 702-1323 or book online. Same-day appointments may be available.
  2. A real conversation. We review your history, medications and concerns before the exam.
  3. A thorough exam. For skin checks, we examine you head to toe, including hard-to-see areas.
  4. Treatment on the spot when possible. Biopsies, cryotherapy and many minor procedures can often be done the same day.
  5. A clear plan. You leave knowing your diagnosis, options and next steps, with follow-up in person or by teledermatology.
